Large Edema Pad
Shown are a 9x9 inch edema box and a 3D printed box in which the edema pads are cast. The box holds (4) 4x4x1-inch edema pads that represent stages 1 to 4 of pitting edema.

Ingredients

  • Dragon Skin Part A (Smooth-On) Stage 1:123 ml, Stage 2: 120 ml, Stage 3: 110 ml, Stage 4: 102 ml
  • Dragon Skin Part B (Smooth-On) Stage 1:123 ml, Stage 2: 120 ml, Stage 3: 110 ml, Stage 4:102 ml
  • Slacker (Smooth-On) Stage 1:66 ml, Stage 2: 90 ml, Stage 3: 110 ml, Stage 4: 128 ml
  • Mold Release (Smooth-On)
  • Flesh pigment (Smooth-On)
  • Plastic Cups
  • Stirrers
  • Scale
  • Baby Powder
  • 3D printed edema box
  • 3D printed box

Instructions

  • Take off the breakaway wall
  • Thoroughly spray mold release in the casting box, making sure to get all the crevices, corners, and the breakaway wall
  • Put the breakaway wall on the box
  • Apply caulk on the seam of the breakaway wall and box (you do not have to let this dry) and put a rubber band around the box to secure it
  • Put a plastic cup on the scale, tare it
  • Pour Part B (either 132 mL, 120 mL, 110 mL, 102 mL) for the desired stage of pitting edema
  • Mix in the desired amount of flesh pigment, stir thoroughly, making sure to scrape the sides of the cup, scrape off the stirrer into the cup, and that the pigment is properly dispersed (no marbling of color)
  • Tare scale
  • Pour Slacker (either 66 mL, 90mL, 110 mL, 128 mL), stir thoroughly
  • Spray the inside of the casting box with mold release a second time
  • Tare scale
  • Pour Part A, the same volume as you poured of Part B (either 132 mL, 120 mL, 110 mL, 102 mL), stir thoroughly. You now have 12 minutes till your mixture begins curing
  • Within 12 minutes of adding Part A, pour your mixture into the casting box
  • Let cure for 40 minutes (the full curing time of Dragonskin)
  • Once cured, take the rubber band off the box, the breakaway wall, and remove the edema pad
  • Use a paper towel to wipe off the mold release residue
  • Put baby powder on the edema pad to remove any remaining stickiness
